Goldeneye is one of the most popular Nintendo 64 games, and one of the best First Person Shooters of all time. Many people bought their N64′s for such a game, and gamers everywhere have been waiting for this game to arrive on the Wii’s Virtual Console; however this may never happen.
Martin Hollis (Director and Producer of Goldeneye) recently admitted to the Official Nintendo Magazine that Goldeneye may never grace the Wii due to legal issues. “There’s always someone with some exclusivity agreement, so there’s lots of lawyers… I’m not going to hold my breath. I’d love it to happen, but I can’t see it.”
I don’t know about the rest of you, but this has greatly saddened me. Goldeneye was one of my favorite games on the N64, and although I have the cart and console I’d still like it to have a permanent place on my Wii.

no way man!!
I had some seriously good times with the original Goldeneye, and it was definitely one of the titles that re-invigorated the first-person shooter genre, but it doesn’t hold up well. At all. I went back and sat down with the game a few months back and was disappointed. I should have just kept those memories of the game intact.
Maybe it’s not such a bad thing that it may never see release on the Wii Virtual Console.
