At 5,560 square miles, covering the approximate area of Trinidad & Tobago, FUEL has been named as the largest playable environment in a console game recognised by Guinness World Records.
Asobo Studio and Codemasters were presented with the award with a certificate that officially documents:
“Largest playable area in a console game: The largest playable environment in a console game is 5,560 sq mi (14,400 km²), and is featured in FUEL (Codemasters, 2009). The area features rivers, deserts, forests and mountains and was demonstrated at the offices of Guinness World Records, London, UK, on 20 May 2009.”
In celebration of the award, Codemasters has released a video on the game’s website, www.fuel-game.com, explaining gameplay features and the technical challenge in creating the record-setting FUEL. Drive on over to the downloads section to find it.

Impressive. They may as well quit while they’re ahead and not release it!
