ffxiii 540x303 FFXIII to arrive in Europe before Hell freezes over?

Are you tired of waiting forever to get your hands on some juicy JRPG action, while residents of the Land of the Rising Sun are kicking back and enjoying their third play-through? Well, Square Enix know how you feel and are hard at work trying to make sure that the European version of Final Fantasty XIII arrives less than a year after the Japanese one. That’s a start, right?

Speaking to Videogamer producer Yoshinori Kitase said: “Obviously we would like to release it over here as soon as possible. Traditionally the Final Fantasy numbered series, it takes about half a year between the release in Japan and the release in North America, and another half a year before it’s released in Europe. But we would like to minimise this, this time.”

“For example we have already started recording English voices, and also the text localisation has been in progress, too. Normally we complete the Japanese version first, then move on to the US and EU versions, but this time there are some tasks that are happening simultaneously. So this time we’re hoping to release sooner than a year later than the Japanese release.”

Unless Stephen Fry is voicing the European FFXIII, it would be nice to at least see the region free PlayStation 3 version arrive around the same time as in the US. But, whether it be the PS3 or 360 version, should we be holding our breath?

  1. Almost everyone in Europe/AU will be importing the US game on release, it’s almost not even worth publishing it in the UK/AU :P

This is definitely my most highly anticipated title at the moment!

Yeah, I’m really surprised most companies can’t release games for different regions simultaneously. I wonder what’s option is more feasible for them money wise? Either way, people are going to buy this game no matter how long they wait.

  4. I would think that, for the PAL regions, it just takes a long time to translate it into several different languages, let alone the possibility of recording the voice in all the different languages (though most PAL games I’ve played only have English voice).

Still, that’s definitely cool to hear.

    Ugh..
I can never keep track of these FF games….
Everytime I think I finally figured out what number they are on, another one gets shot out.

Anywho. Patience is a virtue..or so we’re told.
