Get those stop watches ready for a new Gamer Limit feature ‘’ Read, Download, Play’’, in which we will review iPhone/iPod touch games in short 30 second bursts!

This week’s game: Rolando(Developer Blog)

The game’s simple storyline takes you (Finger) on the journey of leading Rolandos though Rolandoland to find the source of the emergency call from Rolando central (that’s a lot of Rolandos!). Along the way your Rolandos will encounter numerous enemies and obstacles which make use of the on screen touch controls to clear paths, open doors, load catapults and solve other puzzles.

Rolando

Controlling your Rolando minions is as simple as dragging a square over them and tilting the device to roll them left or right. Constant use of the accelerometer for movement avoids many of the control pitfalls of other iPhone games with onscreen buttons. The only problem with controlling Rolando is the ‘swipe up’ on screen to jump. This sometimes has your finger catching onto a door or lever letting your Rolando’s continue their momentum into a pit of lava.

An additional free ‘secret level’ pack has been released to those who have finished with the games 40 inbuilt levels.40 levels will take most users a lengthy 3-4 hours in short 5-15 minute sessions.Giving Rolando a considerably larger amount of content than other iPhone games.

At $4.99(US) Rolando’s innovative control scheme, large amount of levels and the option of downloadable content will definitely give any gamer more bang for their buck than other similar priced games on the store.

9.0/10

  1. They’re like little “egg” lemmings! This game looks perfect for work breaks.

  2. This looks like a fun little game.

  3. Too bad I don’t have an iphone…or pod for that matter.

i think that’s the problem! Not all feeatrus are compatible with all devices. For example, multitasking, custom wallpaper, and Bluetooth keyboard support are available only with iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, and the third-generation iPod touch (32GB and 64GB models from late 2009) mine is a ipod touch 8 gb
