You know it’s a slow news day when random tidbits like this are being reported, but nonetheless according to a recent survey conducted by the Nielsen Company even weeks after its release Halo Wars is the game most people are interested in buying (not to be confused with the amount sold).

kingdom_hearts_2_import_image192Perhaps in one of the most unique unions the video game industry has ever seen, Kingdom Hearts 1 & 2 has captured the imagination of children, gamers, and just overall fans of the Disney properties. The unique blend of Disney magic, and Square-Enix’s RPG prowess has left gamers with a desire for the third installment in the series. All signs from the secret movies in Kingdom Hearts 2 pointed towards a third episode, but this short interview reconfirms our wildest dreams.

dragonquest4-1

The original Dragon Warrior – the old US name for Dragon Quest – was the first RPG I ever played and finished, at the tender age of four. While it may not be the main compelling reason that I got into the genre (That would be Final Fantasy 2 on the SNES), it’s anyone’s guess as to why I’ve never been interested in looking at the rest of the series. Sure, I played about halfway through Dragon Warrior 7 (which is actually a good 60 hours of gameplay, mind you), and I played a demo of Dragon Quest 8. But, what about 2-6?

I’d always heard that Dragon Warrior 4 was the best of the series, so when it got re-released here as Dragon Quest 4: Chapters of the Chosen, I decided to take the plunge and try it out finally. I have to say, it’s a very antiquated game; but, I still enjoyed it pretty thoroughly.

gamerlimitchange4lifeNot that long ago, it was reported about the outrage spreading among the UK games development sector, sparked as a result of a government sponsored initiative called Change4Life aiming at making the nation healthier. Whilst the goal is clearly worthwhile, the content of their adverts specifically targeted games as a harbinger of early death, thus the petitions and lawsuits began. In their new advert, however, it seems they have listened as gaming that requires physical activity has been cited as a virtue worth promoting. Read more… »

You’ve come to a moral crossroad, one leads to the path of virtuous, self-righteous glory. The other, a dismal path of thievery, death and destruction. Only one may be chosen, which do you follow? A superb concept for nearly any genre of video game.

A concept, however, that has never truly been accomplished. Morality is not as simple as good or evil, an aspect that seems to have been lost over the past 10 years since the release of BioWare masterpiece, the original Baldur’s Gate (and subsequent sequels). Even though there were more specifics tied to your choices in BG, a true “moral compass” feature has yet to be done correctly. Read more… »

It’s difficult to think of a better way to utilise the capabilities of a handheld device such as the PSP than to bridge a storyline gap between two previously released home console titles. Those who have tackled and conquered previous iterations are given a reason to check out this missing link, while for others it merely acts as an entrance into an unknown universe with both a history and a future.

Like its predecessors, Resistance: Retribution throws the player into a raging war between the human race and the Chimera – the latter making giant leaps in its basic goal of taking over Planet Earth, the former struggling to stop it from happening. But, unlike the first-person experiences offered on the PlayStation 3′s Resistance: Fall Of Man and Resistance 2 – between which this European adventure lies – the PSP title is a third-person affair. What’s more, it introduces a new protagonist to the series in the shape of James Grayson, a tough talking Londoner with a grudge and more hair than Nathan Hale. But is it any good? Hit the jump to find out.

Once upon a time Lucasarts made games that didn’t have the Star Wars name plastered all over them. It was a simple time, filled with laughter and bright colours, quick wit and intriguing puzzles. While it seems that time is long gone, we can still look back fondly upon these games, hoping that one day they will be revived in a blaze of glory.

Games like Day of The Tentacle, Grim Fandango and most importantly, the Monkey Island Series. The Curse Of Monkey Island to be precise, the 3rd superb game in the series, often regarded as the strongest out of all 4. Hit the jump to find out more!

Gamer Limit Review: LOL
By: | April 24th, 2009

lol

There is a common saying throughout my family, and likely yours, that goes something like this: Laughter is good for the soul. In a world filled with stress, worries, and insecurities I think that we can finally say that a video game is good for the soul. You will laugh while playing LOL, even if it is at the game, and not the content inside of it.

Confused by Controversy…
By: | April 24th, 2009

controversy

As aspirations go being the winning triple point score word in a tie-break game of Scrabble may not ever appear on the pages of an English student filling an hours worth of support-teacher led lesson detailing what they want to be when they grow up, and anyone wishing that to be so may well find themselves being slowly squeezed out and ostracized by their peers until they eventually end up on the evening news being named as the one responsible for all the people shaped chalk outlines in the school gym.

Having seemingly failed sniper school and being bereft of Glock, controversy has instead gone for a complete make-over, and now stands as a powerful but misunderstood tool in the world of selling and marketing. Need to shift something really quick and get the money to Fat Tony before you lose your toes? Get a backdrop, a bucket or two of blood and a lady of questionable, but affordable, morals and shove the whole thing on a billboard and breathe a sigh of relief as the sales stave off the equestrian wake-up call pencilled in for the morning. A few hours ago, information on a Street Fighter 4 tournament was posted up on Capcom-Unity, a blog site that is run by Capcom USA staff. Many big tournaments are held for Street Fighter 4 all over the country; however, very few of them are discussed on the staff blogs of Capcom-Unity.

One could only speculate as to the reason why this event is getting special attention, but what’s noteworthy in this case is that the same event is also holding a Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 tournament. Read more… »
