I can remember when I was a little boy my friends and I would play a variation of Cops and Robbers. Two of us would be the cops, the rest the robbers. We would have to capture them and then one of us keep them in jail. Probably doesn’t have a lot to do with this DLC for Burnout Paradise, but it could right?

brutal-legend-1

Electronic Arts’ upcoming third-person action title Brütal Legend tells the story of a roadie – the “roadie’s roadie”, in fact – who’s memory contains every single heavy metal album cover he has seen and each and every heavy metal lyric that he has ever heard. The man in question, Eddie Riggs – voiced by the outrageously rock ‘n’ roll Jack Black- has an accident one night that results in him embarking on a great adventure inside his own… heavy metal mind. Hit the jump for more information and some juicy screenshots.

On June 21 and 22, gamers in and around the London area will have the chance to attend what is shaping up to be a rather grand exhibition. Game On!, announced earlier this month, is being put together by HMV and the United Kingdom eSports Association (UKeSA) and features a blend of competitive tournaments and exclusive pre-release previews.

Adding to the growing promise of this event, Nintendo UK have added themselves to the line-up, confirming that they thrilled at the prospect of showing London what to expect from them in the coming year.

How many people in the world can say they helped George Washington fend off the British, and rode throughout the night with Paul Revere screaming, “The British are coming! The British are coming!”  I’ll bet my knickerbockers no one alive today can bear witness to that.  Empire: Total War is one of the most compelling historical games ever released in PC gaming history.  I have been playing the retail version for a couple of months now and can honestly say there are still elements to be learned and discovered.

Although Empire: Total War has successfully packed the grandeur of 18th century warfare into 15 gigabytes of programming, it does have its share of bugs and glitches.  Aside from its rough spots, Creative Assembly has successfully depicted the brutality and prestige of 18th century combat through its game play and cut scenes.  What had started out as a simple real time strategy (RTS) series has evolved into one of the most engaging experiences any PC game can offer. Haven’t you ever played a game that was bad on most accounts, but something about its charm kept you playing? Conversely, I’m sure you must have played a game that had no glaringly bad design decisions, but was so boring that you wanted to just turn it off. This is what I’m talking about – the exception, not the rule, where a bad game is enjoyable.

Usually, while it’s hard to say exactly why said bad games are so good, it’s easy to give you the answer with My World, My Way. This is a game that makes fun of all the really stupid, tired conventions of JRPGs that people take for granted. From the minute details like all townsfolk looking the same, to the random acts of do-goodery that traditional JRPG heroes partake in. You know what I mean, right? The way they stop at every town and fix the town’s monster problems, electrical problems, zombie problems, or what have you, even though it has little to no relevance to the point of their quest? Yeah, My World, My Way, makes fun of it all.
