Miyomoto’s lost DS RPG

A scrapped RPG patent for the Nintendo DS has been recently excavated.  One of the designers at the helm of the abandoned game is none other than Shigeru Miyamoto.  If you’re like me and thought that Nintendo cried “eureka!” at any thought squirming out of the Mario creator’s head, then you are probably surprised this game is frozen.  You’ll be even more surprised when you hit the jump and learn about what the game would have been like. An undercover operation conducted by a British Trading Standards agency has exposed a number of video game retailers selling 18-rated games to minors. According to Dundee council, out of sixteen retailers visited by a covert 14 year-old volunteer, twelve were perfectly happy to sell them the titles without any form of questioning.

Hironobu Sakaguchi, the father of the famous Final Fantasy series, went on to create his own game studio, Mistwalker, in 2004. This was big news, and when Mistwalker finally announced its first game – Blue Dragon – you could imagine that it was even bigger news. The hype only got bigger when it was announced that two other big names in the industry – Nobuo Uematsu and Akira Toriyama – were working on the game as well.

People eventually began to compare it to Chrono Trigger, a masterpiece RPG of the 1990s (surely, you’ve heard of it?) that all three of them worked on together. Of course, this was hype it couldn’t possibly live up to. Read more… »

Xbox Live’s Major Nelson announced today, starting in May, the above pictured Game of the Year Xbox 360 Elite bundle will be available in retail stores.  This bundle contains everything a normal elite would, but Lego Indiana Jones and Kung Fu Panda are being replaced by none other than Halo 3 and Fable 2.  The retail price for the bundle will be a cool $399.99 which means that both games are being included at no additional cost.

It’s official. As reported by numerous sources, it has been announced at a press conference in London that Fallout: Las Vegas is currently in production for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC (GFW).

The publisher, Bethesda, has also let it known that it will be working with Obsidian Entertainment on the new title, which will be “simular to how Fallout 3 is played”, but no details have been released as to its design, release date or gameplay features.

They say it’s the little things that count, right? Well, anyway, Killzone 2 developer Guerilla Games appreciates the sentiment entirely and so appears to have been working long and hard on fixing those tiny niggles that can so often spoil an online multiplayer experience.

Patch 1.24, the second patch for their fledgling title, is designed to cure problems such as players finding handy sniping positions outside of the map and others not being rewarded post-game medals correctly. Plus, there will be new top-end rankings, known as “Hardcore ranks”… Hmmm, sounds like something I want need. Hit the jump for the list in full.

With E3 approaching fast, it would only be right for the big players to get the ball rolling and begin announcing what we can expect from their respective shows this year. And, in an official PlayStation blog posting, Sony have done just that by dropping in not one, not two… but six — count ‘em six — titles that they will definitely be showcasing at the beginning of June.
