Amateur developer Robert Pelloni had spent months and months working on a project he simply entitled “Bob’s Game”. Throughout the course of development, Robert became an Internet sensation by openly publicizing his quest to turn his title into an official Ninendo DS game. After months of work, Robert contacted Nintendo for a development kit, but was denied. He then staged a protest that ended in a disaster. Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime finally commented on the situation and gave a little bit of advice for amateur developers.
According to Mr. Fils-Aime, Robert Pelloni was evaluated by Nintendo using the same evaluation they give all potential developers. At the end of the evaluation it was determined that Mr. Pelloni did not meet the requirements to become a licensed developer. Although Reggie did not disclose any details about why the game did not meet requirements, he did offer hope to the amateur homebrew game designer.
Mr. Fils-Aime reminded everyone of the success of a title like World of Goo, that has been a tremendous success as a WiiWare title. He also said that Tetris was invented by a non-name in Russia while Pokemon was nothing more than a strange Japanese game for so many years.
When compared to some of the games that have been allowed to be put onto the Wii, WiiWare, and the DS perhaps “Bob’s Game” should stay undeveloped.

Even though this guy is a sociopath, his game looked better than most of the shovel-ware Reggie gives his seal of approval to.

Not a bad little publicity stunt, but more than a few people saw this coming.
