I played the game and its not a shameful addition to the Silent Hill series at all, plus, some of the monsters do have a meaning to Alex's psyche, including Josh. (Well, the Needlers come from Josh's psyche)
it's just that the reason it seems like the monsters aren't aren't connected to Alex's psyche is because he's never been married before, and he doesen't have a love interest.

For example, the nurses represent Alex's infatuation with the military nurses because they wear sparkling whit outfits that show off their boobs and have miniskirts 11 inches above the knee. Read Alex's diary entry on August 25th to find out.

Good Review, the points brought up were well made. Ive been a huge fan of the franchise since the original and I enjoyed this game immensely. That being said though, the game on its own is O.K. Any fan of the series enjoy it but anyone else should give it a rent.

@eadwin
Without saying too much for those who haven't played it, I felt the latter half of the game gave some meaning to both the split in half enemies, and the stretchy things that crawl on the floor. But I do agree that several elements, specifically the nurses were something they kept in that was to do with another man's tragedy, as I mentioned in the review. With multiple endings and stuff, it is hard to get a grasp on the true story of the game anyway as in some ways, some endings would make some parts that made sense, stop making sense.

"worth a play for fans" if they don't mind that this game doesn't make any sense. I mean, seriously, in SH2 the perverted monsters made sense, because the protagonist was looking for his beautiful, sexy wife. Homecoming just doesn't make any sense; peeled-banana-heads or even the nurses, for example, don't connect anyhow with Alex's psyche, who is looking for his brother. This game tries hard to be a SH game but it forgets the game's lore... lame.
