Electronic Arts have today revealed that Dante’s Inferno – their eagerly anticipated and already highly contraversial action adventure title - will be released for the PSP, along with the previously announced PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions.
Taking the player on a journey through the nine circles of hell – limbo, lust, gluttony, greed, anger, heresy, violence, fraud and treachery – Dante’s Inferno is based around Dante Alighieri’s classic, ‘The Divine Comedy’. As you’d expect, this has caused a great deal of “excitement” in people who doubt EA’s ability to bring any justice to what is a seminal piece of work; arguably, one that has defined our perception of hell and purgatory ever since it was conceived.
Development duties are in the hands of EA Redwood Shores studio and Artificial Mind and Movement (A2M), based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
Meanwhile, in spite of the debacle surrounding the game’s premise, there has also been debates as to whether the game will be any good and/or live up to its obvious visual and contextual rival God Of War III. Of course, this remains to be seen but we can now start wondering whether the PSP iteration will come close to matching God Of War: Chains Of Olympus.
