You may have heard of Jerry Holkins and Mike Krahulik, the founders of the Penny Arcade webcomic.  The duo is also responsible for the Child’s Play charity drive and the Penny Arcade Expo.  Basically, they’re a couple native born Washingtonians that make the state look good, and now Washington is thanking them.

Here are some highlights from the rigidly structured “Senate Resolution 8640″ regarding the achievements of the Penny Arcade founder:

“…advancing Washington State as a hub of the gaming industry through the presence of Penny Arcade Expo,”

“Child’s Play Charity has raised over 4.5 million dollars for sixty different Children’s Hospitals”

“Penny Arcade Expo has grown to become the largest game convention in the United States, with over 58,500 video game enthusiasts attending the Penny Arcade Expo at the Washington State Convention and Trade Center in August 2008″

Kudos to Penny Arcade for getting formerly recognized by a State.  That’d be nice to be put on a resume, or something.  This year’s Penny Arcade Expo is Sept. 4th-6th.

  1. It’s always weird seeing an actual picture of Tycho and Gabe. Cheers to them for the accomplishment! They seem like great people.

  2. whether you likke or dislike their brand of humor, penny-arcade is doing great things for the industry and even for those out of the industry.

    I’ve met them a few times and they’re actually really nice guys in person. Stand up blokes.

  3. BALD! is exactly what I thought when I first met them at Sakura-Con when I was 18. PAX was fairly new and not really known at the time but they come very far which is great. They’ve made a positive impact on peoples views on gamers and they are totally neat guys to talk with. :] I would love to interview them given the chance, let alone any one the popular developers like NoA, Valve, or even Microsoft….. Man, I wanna move back to Washington. ;_;
