In lieu of the Midway CEOs withholding paid vacation from employees of the struggling company to increase their own bloated salaries with bonuses, the following is incredible news.  Square-Enix’s Yoichi Wada has announced that some key CEOs are taking self-imposed pay cuts.

The excutives to take the 15% hit are Vice-President Keiji Honda, Director and Chief Financial Officer Yosuke Matsuda, and Wada himself.  Wada also went on to explain, “this reduction is for an indefinite period. In the meantime,” he adds, “we intend to stand up straight and push ahead with reforms.”

While 15% is only a chip off what I assume are mountainous salaries, it is incredibly refreshing to see higher-ups taking the financial hit right along side the rest of their company.  With the global economy being the way it is, this seemingly minor act of altruism carries special significance.  Now if only the rest of the greedy, money grubbing executives could try this out.

Any of you folks surprised to hear this news?  Does it change the way you look at Square-Enix?
