Word has surfaced that Diablo 3, one of the most anticipated upcoming PC games, will have late a 2009 release date.  Product Reviews writes that Blizzard will be opening an online Beta version of the game on Septermber 11th, 2009, while the game will release for retail on December 24th, 2009.  Christmas Eve?  I shudder at the thought of having to visit any store on the night before Christmas, even if it is just for Diablo 3.  Click continue for the system requirements.

The specs aren’t as demanding as I thought they would be, but I suppose that means more people will be able to play.  Here’s to hoping we find out soon if the game will be pay-to-play or free to play online.  All this has yet to be confirmed by Blizzard, so stay tuned for developments.
