By twice as much, I mean twice as much as both the GCN and PS2 launch combined. According to Ameblo.jp, “Resident Evil 5 sold 278,000 on its first day in Japan. Resident Evil 5 has beaten launch day sales of Resident Evil 4. The game sold 117,000 copies for the Gamecube in January 2005 and 145,000 copies for the PlayStation 2 in December 2005. Resident Evil 5 has surpassed that combined number.” It will be interesting to see how it fares in the West, where consumers are weary of the dated control scheme.

  1. Wow, Resident Evil 5 sold pretty well. Way better than I expected. I wonder if this sales include bundles. Can’t wait to pick up my copy this Friday.

  2. Finally preordered my copy last week (regular 360 version), trying to stay away from the message boards since it’s been leaked. >_<
