A Notre Dame Academy student named Breanna Lucci has started a petition over her displeasure of Nazi dog murder in Activision’s Call of Duty: World at War. Every time we get a brand new franchise that we love, we pray to the Gods of Gaming that they don’t cock up the inevitable sequel. This isn’t to say that the sequels are bad games, they just pale in comparison to what came before. Occasionally we’ll get games that stand tall over their predecessors, like Street Fighter II or Soul Calibur 2. A British MP has called for all video gaming devices to have a ‘Red Button’ affixed to them, which would allow parents to quickly shut down the devices. The MP in question Glenis Willmott has apparently not heard about the fabled power button already affixed to electronic advices.

ghostbusters

In regards to the new Ghostbusters video game at least. Wow this game has had it’s share of controversy! First, Activision completely abandons it in favor of milking established franchises, Rick Moranis refuses to come back because he’s retired, yet also busy doing voice acting work for Disney’s Brother Bear 1 and 2, and then Sigourney Weaver refuses to sign on because she thought “the game wouldn’t be of high quality”. She changed her mind a bit too late it seems, as Atari has already replaced her with Milano.

Ghostbusters has come a long way since Akyrod’s original idea of a “time traveling SWAT troupe with wands who battle ghosts”. Let’s hope the game does the original movie justice!
