News about Resident Evil has been spreading like the T-Virus lately, and I couldn’t be happier to spread it further. Upon being prodded at a Toronto event about the likelihood of Resident Evil 5 making an appearance on Nintendo’s console, Capcom’s Matt Dahlgren responded, “It was made for the Xbox 360 and PS3. That being said, Nintendo Wii fans will be very happy very soon.”
This news has the internet moaning with speculation, and scratching for possibilities. Everything from the Japanese Wii version of RE:0 coming stateside, to a remake of RE:2 or RE: Code Veronica are being speculated.
One plausible rumor is that Wii users could get a sequel to 2007′s Umbrella Chronicles. Umbrella Chronicles features an anthology of RE scenarios combined with light gun gameplay, so Code Veronica and RE:2 (games that were absent in the first game) could be featured in a sequel.
These are exciting days to be a Resident Evil fan. While I would battle through Raccoon City with only a knife for a chance to play a Resident Evil 2 Remake, I could settle for another Umbrella Chronicles entry. Stay tuned for more details in the future.
