We were all hoping for an announcement on Square-Enix’s plans for Final Fantasy on the Wii. Naturally we expected a game would be revealed. However we we’re wrong, whilst we expected one game, we got three. Nintendo President Satoru Iwata reveals all in his GDC Keynote speech. Hit the jump.
First up on the list is the sequel to Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King. The name of the game is, Final Fantasy Chrystal Chronicles: My Life as a Darklord. Wow those are both a mouthful, it promises the same play concept as it’s WiiWare predecessor, except this time around you won’t be a pleasant king, you’ll be a villainous bastard!
Game number 2 is one we all knew about, Final Fantasy IV: The After Years. It is now officially confirmed for WiiWare in both America and Japan. The After Years is a direct sequel to Final Fantasy IV which was released on the SNES. However the game has a big fanbase now thanks to the remake that was released on the DS. Get hyped for this one guys, it’s looking smooth.
And last but certainly not least, all you Virtual Console fans are about to get giant stiffys, as the original Final Fantasy games, released mainly on the SNES and NES, are about to be ported to the VC. First up will be the original Final Fantasy, the 8bit wonder that started it all. We’ll all be looking forward to that one.
Wow, big announcement for Nintendo eh? Final Fantasy fans rejoice, your time has come!
