Bethesda has today confirmed that Fallout 3 DLC The Pitt has returned to the Xbox LIVE Marketplace, following work to fix the problems that marred its release two days ago.
A number of issues were reported with framerate and freezing shortly after The Pitt went live, mainly through gaming message boards around the internet. Bethesda were quick to step in, releasing a statement on their website:
“We are continuing to look into the issues people are experiencing with The Pitt for Xbox 360. As of now it looks like the file for the English version on Xbox Live was somehow corrupted. We are currently working with Microsoft to remove the existing file off of Live to prevent any further downloads. Our plan is to replace it with a new file as soon as possible. We hope to have another update for you shortly.”
You could say that the content suffered faulty ”breaks” on its first lap, before a quick “Pitt” stop saved the day. Hopefully, the “Fallout” from this won’t affect the popularity of the content too much… Oh dear.
Those yet to downloaded the DLC can proceed with a purchase as usual, while those with the corrupted file will need to delete the old version before downloading the working DLC. According to Bethesda, here’s how:
- Sign in to Xbox LIVE then press the guide button
- Go to Settings->System Settings->Memory.
- From here, scroll down to Fallout 3 and press A.
- Select Fallout 3: The Pitt (Marketplace Content) press A then choose Delete, then Yes to Delete (make sure not to delete any of your game saves)
Once deleted you can re-download The Pitt at no extra cost.

Excellent stuff. They obviously didnt text the expansion properly before releasing it.
Bethesda fans are pretty forgiving from what I gather. If EA or Activision had this happen, I think peoples’ heads would asplode
Forgiving only because this is typical, such a huge game has to have problems. But because it’s DLC they know it will be fixed rather than if it were a Disc. This is one DLC I’d definitley get…For fallout that is.
