Prompted by the Notre Dame Animal Rights club’s recent concern over attack dog killing in Call of Duty: World at War, PETA has officially jumped on the bandwagon. In fact, the folks over at GamePolitics have received a statement from PETA regarding Wolfenstein, Nintendogs, and animal empathy. Click continue for more.“Not since we were pitted against Nazi attack dogs when we first escaped from Castle Wolfenstein 17 years ago have we seen such barbaric treatment of dogs in gameplay as we did in Call of Duty, World of War,” says PETA.
Displaying altruism in its purist form, PETA adds, “To help the folks at Activision Blizzard learn about the ethical treatment of animals, we’re offering to let them take PETA’s “Developing Empathy for Animals” free of charge and are sending a package of Nintendogs games to their office.”
I’m pretty sure Nintendogs encourages people to yell at animals and poke them with pointy sticks, so that might not be the best decision by PETA. However, it is nice to see PETA handling the CoD:WaW Nazi dog killing with a sense of humor. Hopefully PETA’s lighthearted response will prompt an even funnier response from Activision, which will in turn make the Notre Dame Animal Rights crew focus on something more helpful to animals like cracking down on illegal dog fighting tournaments or working at a cat shelter.
Maybe this whole thing is viral marketing for the new Wolfenstein game…

I think what PETA is trying to say is that you shouldn’t hurt all those cute cuddly German Shepards that are trying to rip your face off in dimly lit halls. I just hope they are not actively trying to make a change in the gaming industry to stop the use of animals in video games. I do think its funny they are sending Activision copies of Nintendogs though
This just in, a new patch for COD: WOW – Grenades are replaced with T-Bone steaks to lure dogs away from you.
