Microsoft have today announced that the recently released Grand Theft Auto IV downloadable content, The Lost and Damned, has made lots of money. So much, in fact, that it has eclipsed the previous record for day-one sales on Xbox LIVE.

Considering this is the most expensive DLC on Xbox LIVE to date, the news may not come as such a shock. Microsoft, however, will no doubt be feeling relieved that their investment in the Rockstar game’s exclusive content is showing signs of paying off.

Although there are no precise figures to back up this story, the fact that the content has been so popular may persuade other developers to take a leaf out of Rockstars book by offering a substantial amount of extra gaming time. This may help to ensure that their own titles aren’t traded in by gamers once completed.
