So there is life in the old girl yet. Just as rumors run riot about the possibility of a new PSP coming in the not-so-distant future, Sony pull a card out of their sleeve and a rabbit out of a hat. That’s right, LBP and Motorstorm are both heading to the PSP this year.
While details on LittleBigPlanet are scarce at this point in time, it has been confirmed that players will be given the oppportunity to create and share levels just like on the Playstation 3 version. I also think we can expect some kind of link-up play between the PSP and the PS3 with this title, much like what Resistance: Retribution will offer, although perhaps this is merely the candle of hope that flickers inside my heart speaking.
Motorstorm: Arctic Edge will introduce an all-new environment to the series. “Where?” you ask? Well, it’s in the title: The Arctic, which should bring the most extreme weather conditions we have seen in a Motorstorm game yet. Other than that, I think we can expect much of the same from this title, which is no bad thing at all.
“There are a lot of big claims in the gaming industry but we’re confident when we say that 2009 is going to be an exciting year for PSP,” said Mark Hardy, European Marketing Director, SCEE. “Our fans have demanded big PSP titles and this year, we’re going to deliver again and again. With Resistance: Retribution, already on its way to stores, PSP gamers are going to get one big franchise after another.”
Personally, I agree with what Hardy is saying. There will be some great games to get our teeth into for the PSP this year, particularly now that these two games have been confirmed. What does everybody else think? Is this (finally) the year for the PSP and what other games would you like to see? Hmmm, another Killzone would be nice…
