Resident Evil may have been the game that catapulted the survival horror genre into the 3D generation in 1996, but it was Silent Hill’s release in 1999 that moved past jump-scares and focused on psychological terror.  However, the original game featuring Harry Mason’s hunt for his daughter has not aged well, and it appears that the Konami classic may be getting a new coat of rust and blood.

Climax, the studio responsible for the PSP and PS2 title Silent Hill: Origins, has recently posted on their website that they are working on a new original title and a remake of a Konami game.  Rumors that the remake is Silent HIll have been swirling about like fog from the infamous town.

Though these are only rumors, it is obvious that the original 1999 title could benefit from a graphical overhaul.  We witnessed the wonders that happened with the Resident Evil remake, and fans have been clamoring for a remake of Resident Evil 2 ever since, now it’s Silent Hill’s turn.

Here’s to hoping we find ourselves lost in that desolate town for the first time, all over again.
