quakeliveAnnounced in ’07 as Quake Zero, Quake Live launched a couple months ago as a private beta.  Quake live is a free browser based version of the classic Quake tournament FPS, and of obvious interest to anyone with a computer and a thirst for a solid multiplayer FPS.  Only for PC users now, it is rumored to be available in the future for Linux and Mac users.

The private Quake Live beta was  a slaughter-fest of Quake noobs vs. Quake pros, forcing inexperienced players into a trial by fire situation.  As the beta goes public, the playing ground will be leveled allowing fresh players to frag one another to perfection, and eventually be able to hold their ground with the pros.

So on Feb. 24, grab your rocket launcher and a friend, because it’s time to play some free Quake.
