If you have ever hung out with 3 of your friends and played Goldeneye on a large television, you’ve experienced one of the best multiplayer gaming moments possible. Want to relive those moments, but not on the clunky, outdated N64 controls? Look no further than Goldeneye source! More info after the jump.

Before you jump right in, you need to have:

  • A Steam account.
  • At least one Source Based game purchased on your steam account. List of Source Based games. Games shipped with free offers won’t work, you need to buy a source game.
  • The Goldeneye: Source BETA 3 files
  • 5 GB free on your HDD (including the Source SDK Base) or 1 GB (if you already have the Source SDK Base)

In case you’ve never heard of a “source”, it essentially takes an already created game (in this case, Half-Life 2) and modifies it. Counterstrike is an example of a modification of an already established game. The Goldeneye Source Team has resurrected one of the greatest shooters of all time. The game also boasts achievements, even though they are not available for public viewing due to Steam’s restrictions for Mods. Get going and set up a Stacks Proximity Mines only match! You’ll know what I’m talking about when you download it.

Post your impressions if you’d like. I want to know if it’s worth buying a source just for this. (Cheapest one, Half Life Death Match for $5).
