ff4 Final Fantasy IV sequel coming to Wii

You may have heard about a little game called “Final Fantasy IV: The After Years,” and how it was released as a mobile game in Japan late last year.  If you were tempted to cast Meteor on the entire country in a raging fit of jealousy, save your mana, because it’s headed to the Wii.

The title recently popped up on the ESRB’s website, confirming Nintendo’s console as the game’s destination.  Also described is the game itself, which consists of classic final fantasy fare:

“This is a 2D role-playing game in which players embark on an adventure involving magical crystals and a mysterious kingdom. Players traverse across a field map or through dungeons and can enter into turn-based battles along the way. Players use a menu screen to select attacks or magic spells against tiny enemies (e.g., leopards, birds, knights, fish monsters, etc.) that blink and disappear when defeated.”

Anybody getting excited about revisiting Cecil, Rosa, and Kain?  Any purists out there that think this is about as necessary as “Dirge of Cerberus?”

If they keep to traditions, I may actually have to buy that infernal machine that is called the “Wii.”

Strange news. Although 4 wasn’t my all-time favorite, I’ll still get this whenever I get a Wii. Starting with Cecil as a Paladin will be pretty awesome.

They need to do this more often; it’s obvious there’s a market for 2D classic sprite games (MM9).
