While Activision may be taking back E3 this year like a rejected ex, the Blizzard component of the company confirms that it will not be so accommodating. Blizzard recently made this announcement regarding 2009′s Electronic Entertainment Exp:
“Blizzard Entertainment will not be attending or participating in E3 2009.”
Pretty cut and dry, no? The decision to not attend most likely can be attributed to Blizzard’s own successful convention, BlizzCon. Regardless, it’s too bad we won’t be hearing big summer updates about Diablo 3 and Star Craft 2, which are two of the most anticipated upcoming titles of the decade.
Anybody surprised? Anybody care? What do you think stops all developers like Blizzard from simply holding their own conventions?

Here is the thing Blizzard does NOT need E3, half the globe knows who they are and their games. Plus as you said they have their own convention which is far more better event for their fans.
At least activision will be there which is an awesome thing of it self, because we will get to hear about Modern Warfare 2 which is good enough by it self, plus their a same company with different names so one or the other is welcomed in my opinion, I just hope that E3 is back and electrifying.
It’s still lame they aren’t going. E3 is getting back to it’s “roots” so to speak.
Blizz is so huge they’re worth of their own convention people would actually go to, which is awesome, but I wish they were at E3. I think there are only a few others who can host their own con, notably Capcom.
