Braid, the best selling Xbox Live Arcade game of 2008, and highest rated Arcade Game on Metacritic, has given Johnathan Blow great success. Now, gamers are left wanting more. Not necessarily more Braid, but more of the ingenuity that the game has brought to the market.

Nothing is known about this new project other than the fact that it’s an RPG. Johnathan Blow has also mentioned that he wants to make a “Pac-man” clone. Knowing Blow, an abstract, beautiful Pac-Man would probably be awesome, but not as awesome as a 2D-RPG sounds.

Whenever I think “2D-RPG”, I always think of one of the best boss battles of all time in Kirby Super Star. You fight a series of enemies in a giant area made up of turn based battle menus from old RPGS. Maybe you can pick Kirby Super Star up and it’ll tide you over until Blow’s next game!

  1. Well we’ve seen Blow’s masterful application of a Platforming/Puzzle game, and I have no doubt he could fuse 2D platforming/RPGs together in a new and different way.

I think everyone has faith in this man, I’m excited to see the outcome.

  2. I never could get into the Kirby games.

“Not much is known about this new product….”

So is it “known” to be an RPG? I’m a bit confused.

  3. @J.F Fox
Sorry, fixed. I meant not much is known about Blow’s new game other than the fact that it’s a 2D rpg

  4. Awesome. I’m looking forward to it.

I’ve always preferred 2D to 3D RPGs. I mean, it’s only NOW that we’re seeing RPGs capable of re-creating those old 2D environs from Infinity Engine titles in 3D.

  5. Yes Blow knows how to make games. His first and last name together always make me giggle.

  6. Ahh yes, the Kirby RPG moment is unforgettable.

To Adamn M: Well, John knows how to BLOW his fans away (Yes, I know, I suck)

A rpg from Johnathon Blow must be awesome. I can’t wait.
