Gamer Limit Review: Dead Space
By: | November 21st, 2008

deadspace

Dead Space is a third person shooter with an over-the-shoulder camera a la Resident Evil 4.

Boasting polished graphics and absorbing sound, the game aims to put you into an Alien movie (the first two good ones, mind you)!

XBLA: Vigilante 8 Review
By: | November 20th, 2008

I never got to play the original Vigilante 8 on the Playstation 1 back in 1998 so I didn’t have the weight of nostalgia on my back when picking up this arcade release to review. I was looking forward to it as I knew a great deal of people hold the game in high regard. After putting a few hours into the game modes available I can safely say that I am not among the legions of fans.

Finally a truly new, original, adult-oriented game for the Wii, something that’s not a port or a modified retread (I’m looking at you Resident Evil 4 and Umbrella Chronicles). No More Heroes is a magnificent breath of fresh air on a console that is plagued with 3rd party shovel-ware. No More Heroes boasts the unique art-style of Suda 51′s other title, Killer 7, though it thankfully has a different play-style than Killer 7′s on rails shooting.

Is Home Ready for Success?
By: | November 20th, 2008

Coming to a PS3 near you…someday.

Sony is constantly thinking of great ways to get the Playstation 3 ahead in the market. With continuous updates and growing support the console has gained ground and momentum since its launch. Sony’s announcement of Home gave people another reason to expect huge things from Sony Computer Entertainment. Sony has shown off Home as having many areas to visit in its virtual community. From a theater to game related spaces, the possibilities are endless for Home. But as promising as Home is now, is it truly ready to exceed expectations?

Xbox 360: Fable 2 Review
By: | November 19th, 2008

Fable 2 is a game of limitless possibilities where each of your choices has some kind of effect on the world around you. At least that’s what Lionhead wants it to be, fortunately this game comes way closer than Fable 1 did.  Fable 2 tries and really succeeds to keep you immersed in the world of Albion for as long as your willing to be.  This game has a ton of social interactions and choices you can make as the player to stretch the gameplay out, but that is my main complaint about the game, you as the player have to work to make the game last any length of time.

Dynasty Warriors Gaiden On The Way?
By: | November 19th, 2008

We’ve all been wondering what would become of Tecmo after the departure of Tomonobu “Rockstar” Itagaki. It’s widely believed that Itagaki saved the company way back in the 90′s when he created the Dead or Alive series of fighting games. Since then his dev group “Team Ninja” has kept Tecmo afloat with perennial sequels and remakes in the DOA series and, of course, the odd Ninja Gaiden game.

Whatever was Tecmo to do without their star developer pumping out hits for them? The answer is obvious. Merge with Koei of course. Read more… »

Age of the Online Only Gamer
By: | November 19th, 2008

Way back when, there were consoles that couldn’t access the internet. Mainly because it didn’t exist. The NES and Sega Genesis were consoles for one or two people to play amongst themselves. Wow how the times have changed. Gaming has grown immensely since then. Gaming today allows for global chat with gamers while commencing in huge online battles. From handhelds to PCs, gaming online is a huge market. So much so that games now can be release with no offline modes. Socom Confrontation and Warhawk have been fairly successful at this. Games like World of Warcraft bring millions of gamers online.  It’s simply amazing to see how far gaming has come.

The PS3 Turns 2. Cause For Celebration?
By: | November 18th, 2008

Before you know it she’ll be heading off to college.

Sony’s Playstation 3 celebrated it’s second birthday yesterday. Well, technically it was released on November 11th 2006 in Japan, but it didn’t hit many other territories until the 17th, 2 years ago, so for that reason, Sony is calling the 17th the PS3′s official 2nd birthday. We’ll just forget that many Europeans didn’t get the PS3 until much later on. Read more… »

The Xbox 360 is More Hardcore
By: | November 17th, 2008

The gaming industry has grown by leaps and bounds every generation, and this generation is no different. Atari brought home gaming in to the mainstream and with every generation more people have indulged in the industry. Every generation as is defining characteristics. This generation could easily be the generation of fanboys, or it could be the generation of hardcore. Gaming has been divided in to casual and hardcore. Wii, since its launch, has been considered for the causal gaming. The Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 are more rounded for the “Hardcore” crowd while not alienating casual gamers.
